The Day We Got the Keys

WHere the arrowhead acres story began.

Our first glimpse of the cabin — snow on the ground, chimney smoke in the air (who were we kidding, the fireplace didn’t work), and hearts full of equal parts excitement and “what have we done?”

A Cabin with Stories to Tell

I’ll never forget stepping out of the car that first day — keys in hand, breath hanging in the cold air, crunching through snow toward what would soon become our biggest adventure yet.

From the outside, the cabin had that perfect “storybook mountain charm” (or, sort of) — a porch, stone chimney, and weathered wood that looked like it had seen decades of laughter, storms, and seasons come and go.

You could almost hear it whisper, “You sure about this?”

Inside… Reality Hit Fast

The first thing that greeted us wasn’t the cozy mountain scent of pine and fresh air — it was something closer to “vintage ashtray meets damp carpet.” Most of the main floor was covered in old, dirty carpeting — and I am not using the word dirty lightly.

Upstairs, the loft had been turned into a makeshift bedroom with a tiny bathroom — and the massive log staircase that led up to it? Let’s just say it took up half the house and definitely wouldn’t pass a modern safety check.

And then there was the basement.

A maze of wood paneling, dropped ceiling, exposed pipes, and mystery doors that looked straight out of a 1970s time capsule. Half horror movie, half history exhibit — but all ours.

What We Saw Beneath the Dust

Even through the chaos, we could see it. The potential.

The bones were beautiful — hand-hewn logs, natural light, that view through the pines.

We didn’t just see what it was; we saw what it could become.

A space for creativity. For connection. For community.

We had no idea how much work it would take (and we’ve since learned a lot), but we had something even stronger than a blueprint — we had a vision and a whole lot of heart.

The Start of Something Beautiful

This was the day it all began — two dreamers, a pair of work gloves, and ten acres of possibility.

Arrowhead Acres isn’t just a property.

It’s a promise — to create a place where people can slow down, connect, and gather in ways that feel real and rooted.

Stay tuned, friends. The transformation has only just begun.
